My work is a reflection of my concerns for the fragility of life in the twenty-first century. I am particularly interested in similarities found throughout the natural world. These repeating visual patterns seem to point to a common framework that we’re all constructed from. I find that common thread fascinating and comforting. The branching dendritic patterns and fractals explored in my most recent work are a pondering on the commonalities of these systems that are found throughout the world; in our body’s lungs, vascular system, brain neurons, earth’s surface, plants, minerals and rivers. I find myself juxtaposing these earthly patterns with the vulnerable creatures that are often associated as indicators of environmental health, birds and fish. I hope my work reflects to its viewers my reverence for life. We live in an era of awareness. We know our actions as a people have consequences to all life on this fertile gift of a world.
In keeping with my concerns for the health of our planet I create my art using natural materials; Wax, resin, clay and pigment.
